Joris: I'll have to see what happens. I have a plan to drive to Croatia this summer. I have not decided witch route to drive yet, but looks like Denmark, Germany (Nurburgring), Stuttgart, Nufenen pass (switzerland) and then to croatia...

I will make sure to let you guys know ;)

Yes it is a nice place to be during summer. I have spent a summer there before this. We are aiming towards Makarska. :) Last time I was there was in 2007, so it is a while since last time...

Trip to Croatia sounds very tempting B) . I want to go there, but for some Alfa event. I have seen galleries by Paso (I don know if he is the photographer :) ) at Grobnik. Many good alfas, especially his and alfamaniac's GTV  . Sorry for lyrical digression :D .

If you ask me do exhaust before ECU tuning. From turbo backward at 63mm(2.5") or 70mm(2.75"). In practice 63mm will probably be enough. If you lengthen your summer journey to Bulgaria, I can make you a offer for custom exhaust system from stainless steel , hand crafter by one guy in my hometown which has a workshop for such stuff :D . You will be very satisfied by the price and quality of the work  .

I'm also fan of Ultraleggeras , but the price just like wheels is also very "good" :D (here in Bulgaria 260E/piece for 17", 7.5J, PCD 5x100).

The right sequence for upgrading of car is first brakes and handling and then power :) . You upgraded brakes and have suspension for installing (from what I have read FK Silverline X are good coilovers so you probably won't be disappointment) , so probably diff (Quaife is cheaper now than Q2 ;) ) and front strut brace will be more logical steps. And you probably know that original diffs on our cars (and some other models - GTV 3.0,3.2; 147/156 GTA ... ) tend to break and broke the transmission with it and in that case follow very serious and expensive repair. So Quaife or Q2 diffs are not only for improving traction at the front wheels ;) .

I was kinda hoping for a Squadra meeting somewhere in Europe during my vacation, but we'll see what happens.

Kunev: Hmm maybe I need to visit you then...

Send me a PM with price on a custom exhaust!

I send you a PM. The ball is in your court :) .

But if you think about changing of turbo (with something that will not "plug and play" on the exhaust system) variant is also to make all exhaust at once with the new turbo (in that case manifolds and downpipe should be made custom). The most easiest way to upgrade the turbo is with making of hybrid version of stock turbo - changing only of compressor part of the turbo (compressor housing and wheel or only putting bigger wheel in the stock compressor housing). With hybrid turbo you will remain turbine part of the turbo unchanged and with that the manifolds (downpipe have to be changed in any way if you want exhaust upgrade).

Since I'm not in Kunev's leage regarding tuning I ordered a Squadra chip before the weekend. I guess that will do its job for a while, until I want more...

:D I did not know that I was in some league B).

When I go to Squadra tuning at "price list" section and see that 435E for the two chips for our model my reaction is :blink: and when I read post like your above my reaction is :slap:(just a little joke :) ). My opinion is that Squadra tuning is a very good alfa romeo specialist and their chips are also very good, but that price for that exact model (which is also my model) is simply unrealistically high (and even charge 30E for installation by them). Аnd yet everyone is free to make decisions for himself :) . Waiting for your input after installation. I'm sure that you will be happy with your "new" car :).

Hehe Point taken ;)

But compared to let someone tune the car in Norway, that's half the price...

Norway is a ridiculous high cost country, but damn good to live in... :D:huh:

Wow :o . Maybe I have to begin thinking about opening of car service/tuning center with some peoples from Bulgaria in Norway :D. For the price of ECU tuning of your engine in Norway, in Bulgaria probably will be purchased, installed and tuned MegaSquirt II (and that is cheapest way for standalone).

Finally! Taxes paid yesterday, and the GTV is road legal.

After hours of driving Busso Turbo I had some time to kill.. Result was that a friend of mine and myself chipped the car with squadra Chip.. What a huge difference!!! God damn that was well worth every penny! Awesome. I have no words...

Delivered it to the garage today for installation of all the upgrades!

Some pics;

You are happy with the car and that is most important thing :). And after installation of the other upgrades I think that you will be happier  . I have one question, why your car was not legal to this moment, you don't pay the tax because don't drive the car for a while? What models are these wheels ?

P.S. "GTV tb" and "snow" thats are two so incompatible things to me :D.

Very happy! Hehe yes I hope so too! ;)

916 model was never officially sold new in Norway. Therefore all 916 is private imported or imported by independent dealers.

I bought this car a year ago from Germany so I imported it myself :)

This is a set of zender wheels. Looks great for wintertyres ;) I have other plans for summertyres! B)

Next question...

Regarding exhaust, is there any good cat. replacement on the market? Should I remove it and install a de-cat section or a sports cat? I see alfaholics can supply me with that.

I was thinking a ragazzon on the rest. Or supersprint, i dont know... Hehe

Any inputs?

In your country probably is illegal to not have catalytic converter on the car? In old car like yours (mine is even older ;)) stock item probably is not doing his job anymore (and only restrict you exhaust) and need replacement or removal. So you need sports one. The offer by Thanos looks good, Magnaflow is known brand and the price sound good to me. Input and output will have to be with diameter of your exhaust system. Installing of universal sports cat will require custom fabrication to exhaust system! Every catalyst probably is good to some power level and I don't find Magnaflow to rate their cats. I check in Ragazzon catalog and they rate their universal sport cats to 132 KW. Ragazzon offer wide variety of exhaust products for this model (greater choice than any other brand), so if you go for aftermaket replacement exhaust parts this is probably the best choice.

In the beginning of my post I will show one diagram (from manual) of the exhaust system of GTV 2.0 V6 TB for clarity about exhaust parts.

post-368-0-04032800-1362510644_thumb.jpg

In order of appearance :)

-De-cat mean delete catalyst so from name this replace catalyst. So if you installed one your car will not be legal (in your country) and at least you will have to remove this part and put catalyst before every MOT!

-"Ragazzon Stainless Steel Central Silencer - small" - Without EG-certification (TÜV)! This part is illegal in Germany for example and maybe in your country, so you have to check.

-All three rear silencers are with certificates (they are legal for road use), so it depend on your personal taste :). Single silencer is much cheaper, but quad exhaust have so good look :). These silencers are very good and quality products without a doubt, but they are so expensive.

In the beginning of my post I will show one diagram (from manual) of the exhaust system of GTV 2.0 V6 TB for clarity about exhaust parts.

In order of appearance :)

The stock exhaust on my TB was quite different..

It had only the small silenser on the rear section (7)

and only one pipe on the catalytic converter (4)

hmm

I dont think mine matches that drawing either... I know that the previous owner removed the last silencer. Then I think that part number 4 on the drawing is slightly different on mine.

By the way, the easiest way to dodge an MOT test without catalytic converter is to add 10-15% E85 a couple of days before MOT. Works just fine, and does not harm the engine! :)

Hmm I have been under my car 2-3 times, but that was long ago (at beginning of ownership) and I can't remember what was exhaust. Also I can't check right now because my car is at long distance of me (~300km). In the manual there isn't different variants for exhaust system for our model  .

Maybe there is changes between phase 1 and 2. My car is phase 1, yours are phase 2. I made check on ePER also and here are results:

-GTV 2.0 V6 TB phase 1:

post-368-0-49333700-1362510352_thumb.jpgpost-368-0-11554700-1362510353_thumb.jpgpost-368-0-89380600-1362510353_thumb.jpgpost-368-0-86696200-1362510351_thumb.jpg

-GTV 2.0 V6 TB phase 2:

post-368-0-34763700-1362588931_thumb.jpgpost-368-0-69182200-1362588939_thumb.jpgpost-368-0-42606700-1362588940_thumb.jpgpost-368-0-92686900-1362588938_thumb.jpg

When comparing diagrams we will see that:

-from firs two diagrams (of two phases) - the catalyst is different, on phase 1 it is with two inputs and outputs and that on phase 2 is with one input and output;

-third diagrams - these diagrams are the same, but is shown part of catalyst of phase 1;

-forth diagrams - on both diagrams is shown catalyst from phase 1, but covers on them are different, center silencer is the same, but on phase 2 there is two rear silencers and end silencer is with different shape from phase 1

So after all diagrams remains a mystery about exhaust configuration  .

The diagram from manual does not match either phase 1 or phase 2 from ePER. It have catalyst from phase 1 (from ePER) rear sections similar to phase 2 (from ePER) but not quite.

So as summary there is three different diagrams. Like was sad in the "X-Files" - "the truth is out there" :D.

Hehe Good reasearch there Kunev. Thanks!

I'm currently away from my GTV too (~500km), so I can't go under just now, but as soon as possible I will take a photo so I can share...

I think anyway that I will have to have a look to see witch of these exhaust systems I have, but I feel pretty confident that My catalytic converter is with one input and one output.

Feels like they installed whatever they had available on these cars ^_^ hehe
