Roadtrip with a Busso-Bella

Hello everyone!

As i am finishing with the servicing of my bella, my fience thought about a trip to Amsterdam.

And i said "Why not a Roadtrip then" :D

Not by plane nor train, but with the Bella ofc! Come on, a 3litre Alfa romeo! What else could be better than this! :D   1st trip, 1st experience! It should be something to be remembered! :D :D

The trip is planned for late May - June.

We start from Thessaloniki - Greece and we go directly to Amsterdam - Netherlands.

It's a 2400km (one-way), 6 countries trip..!

In this link, you may see the map ->  https://goo.gl/maps/3pxrN

So, any tips, advices etc for both the road and Amsterdam, are more than welcomed!

Wow, quite a trip   Not exacly the ideal car for a 2400km journey, but it's a challenge  :D Too bad you are not going through Croatia, we could have escorted you through Zagreb  :D

I always wanted to do something like that, just a 'no pressure' road trip to wherever. So, I'm a bit jealous  :bag:

Maybe you have a small stop to Sibiu and attend the AlfaFest on 12-14 June!

From space...

Great idea!   :D

trust me on this.. It is way more intersting for a road trip.

GTV is a perfect car for long distances..

Some of the road trips I have done so far was:

Innsbruck to Athens / Athens to Istanbul and back to Innsbruck,

Innsbruck to Berlin and back,

Innsbruck to Naples and back,

Innsbruck to Monaco and back..

Its a good thing that I managed to come "back" from any trip with an old Italian busso car isnt it?

I know a guy that travelled with a v6tb for around 1 hour +, with speeds between 230 - 250km/h, constantly!

No problem...

So not so "miracle", for a good-serviced GTV, is it?

I don't think that a Grand Tourismo bella, is not capable for that kind of travelling. I say, if it's not good especially for long distances, then WTF ? It's a GT afterall!

Thanos, thanks for the proposition! Zagreb is on the way, as i can see :P

So, till now, we will need around 900E for gas, tolls etc, only. Pretty bad, if you think that travelling by plane, costs 270E alle-retour for 2 person, in total! :P xexexexe

But nevermind, worths it!

So, what may we see in this 2,500km trip? Valleys, mountains etc etc?

Come on, describe some more!!! xexex

( TBH, there is also a b-plan, for a roadtrip in Italy (Thessaloniki - Printezi - Venezia - Milano - Rome - Bari(?) - Printezi - Thessaloniki), if things with the first plan, don't go well)

I had a roundtrip Oslo-Nürburgring with no problems!

In addition 500km on Nürburgring. So All I can say is:

Good luck! Is not the car that stop. It is you that need food. (occasionally Busso need fuel :D)

It is not only because of Zagreb, ljubljana or Belgrad...

I just wanted to add some nice mountain roads on your roadtrip..

You have the Alps and one of the best parts of the Autobahn called Brennerpass.

Do not forget that long straight Highways can makes you sleepy :P

I'm joking about the miracle. :)

It's not a real GT anyway.

It's not comfortable, the suspension is stiff and the ride is hard even if you are on 16". It's not exactly a long distance car. Don't get me wrong, I love driving my GTV everywhere, but there are better solutions :D

That route through Zagreb is nicer, IMHO. See you there :)

Well, i actually agree with you!

But then again, i am a guy who just likes the Stiif-Hard-Painfull-OMG setup in his bella! :)

I ll soon get my Bilsteins for re-valving, cause now they are softer than my Picasso's :P

Zagreb meeting, is indeed a nice-sounding idea!  You make "Frape" also? If not, i am not staying :P xaxaxa

Serious road trip ... especially with a sporty alfa :)! But will be much more interesting than other, normal car for sure. There is members done long trips and their opinion is important.

The car should be at good technical condition. If you have some engine related issues will be good to solve them in advance.

That is very interesting! Did you mean some rebuilding of the shock. Bilstein can rebuild their shocks (at least Bilstein USA) -> link.

Hi Desame

My wife and |I did a trip from the Uk to Zante in a spider 3.0ltr 2 years ago, best idea we have ever had

car was faultless, comfortable as anything.

We drove back from Ancona in Italy to our home in 22 hours stopping only for fuel and food and i honestly did not have an ache in my body and i was 52 years old then lol.

Go for it, we are going to tour France and Germany in the Alfa this summer, best car i have ever had for touring.

Chris
