GTV 2.0 V6 TB Q2 competizione ... maybe ...

80 posts in this topic

Some update after start of the new season  :) .

I decided to try Motul Sport 5w-50 oil. I wanted to try ester oil with lower cold index than Motul 300V Competition 15w-50 and end up with this. Also engine coolant was changed with Bardahl type C (blue, showed on one of the previous pages) and timing belt replaced (5 and a half year from previous time and less than 15000 km :laughing_:). And two new tires - Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2. I decided to stay with the current size of 215/45-R17 and not go for 225/45-R17.

Still waiting for the start of performance upgrade ...  :( .

One recent issue with the car, which have to be solved in next week, just before Squadra916 drive II. The radiator start to leak from bottom back side of left end tank. The mechanic sad, that this was common place for crack (generally for radiators, not specifically for GTV). I make a order of Nissens radiator from mister-auto site for parts (and something else, which mention soon), but after several days they send me a message that this product was not in stock and can not be delivered (although it is showed as "in stock"), so the order was canceled by them and money will be refund to me (still wait to see them in my account). Nissens radiator is much more expensive in Bulgaria, compared to price in mister-auto site (and probably from their site and bulgarian distibutors these radiators are made in china, Nissens have production there). So I bought one cheaper asian made radiator.

Also radiator for our car turned out to be more specific and expensive than similar age cars.

Hope to fit fine and to not have problem with it. And with replacing 20 years old original (I guess) radiator with new one, maybe some cooling benefit.

The radiator was fitted and no problem with it after more than 2000km. It was a little bit higher than original (I guess) Valeo which was on the car according to mechanic.

As I mentioned in my previous post, when I make an order for Nissens radiator (which was calceled) I add something else in "the basket" - LuK clutch kit for phase 1 GTV TB (up to 04/98).

This kit have clutch disc with diameter of 228mm and Phase 2 GTV TB have bigger disc with diameter of 335mm. Here is a link for this kit in LuK online catalog -> link. As you can see from the link, this is out of production (unlike kit for Phase 2 TB). Pressure plate and disc are LuK, but releaser is INA. I was thinking that there will be something from Valeo in the box  :D (as I have read about such stories). Clutch disc is with 6 springs as you can see and not with 8 as on some other Phase 1 TB clutches, for which I have read on here  . But I did check and part numbers on disc and pressure plate match these on LuK catalog, so think that everything is OK.

My car will be tuned and still think that will be better with Stage 1 clutch kit, but because of very limited availability for Phase 1 TB (have seen just one) and good price of this kit decided that will get it and think that should be fine with my plan for moderate power increase.

Hi KUNEV, I think it will work well with 6 springs, they seem to be sufficiently small and enough peripherally positioned to not come into contact with the bolts that hold the flywheel on crankshaft with the results you see in the picture.

If the clamping force on the LuK clutch is approximately the same as on the Valeo so should it be able to cope with some torque, the clutch (Valeo) in the picture had only proper contact on 2/3 of the clutch plate and there were no slipping clutch problems.

Hi Kunev,

I replaced my clutch some time ago. Mine is a '95 TB and was fitted originaly with a 235 clutchplate.. Well, I assume it was still the original set after just 125k.km

Now a 228mm set in it: 235 was not available?!  (Some years ago already)
