Cup 86 for sale on Pistonheads
  2. Hello from Dorset

Hi, I have just registered to this forum after being 'prompted' after visiting another Alfa forum. I have been an Alfa fan since 1982 when I bought a late 1970's 1.3 Sud Super. This was the best motoring fun I had ever experienced, so when the structure of the vehicle became too rusty to maintain I bought another Sud, a 1.5 Ti. After this I had a Sprint, a 33 and then my first 916, an Atoll blue GTV 2.0ts. I also had a gem green 147 and then horror of horrors, I traded the GTV against a bright red Brera. I had the Brera on a three year pcp and although It was brilliant as a piece of sculpture it was not that inspiring to drive. When the pcp term finished I just handed it back to Fiat finance and started to reflect upon my future Alfa ownership. I still had the 147 as a daily runner but hankered after something more. In January 2010 I attended an open day at the garage of my good friend Graham Eddy and on that day he had for sale a 1996 Proteo red Spider. I bought it and then made sure it was prepped and ready to drive 'home' to Milan for the 100 year celebrations. It was a brilliant trip, lid down the whole 10 days away and this is the Spider I still own. The next year I started to look around for a Cup and eventually managed to find the right deal for what I thought was the right price. The Cup has since had extensive mechanical rebuild to engine, suspension and braking system as well as a partial cosmetic re-spray to bring it into 'tip-top' condition. The next project is refurb of the Cup alloys and then it will be as I want it. Cup is as original apart from a Bluetooth head unit. It makes me smile every time I drive it.
