Spider 2.0 TS Bucharest

90 posts in this topic

Hi guys and greetings from Bucharest

I read a lot this forum for tips and tricks and think now is time to present my Spider :)

Bought the car October 2014 and since then is in total rebuilting

The car is 2.0 TS from 98 and was in quite bad conditon when I bought it

I started changing the timing belt, wather pump, transmision belts, rear bushes with StrongFlex, the exhauts, the water radiator, spark plugs, etc

Besides that, also bought 18" Zender Sienna's, CUP wings and sideskirts and now I am looking for the front splitter but dont find it :)

After all will run smoothly, will go and paint the whole car

I will put some pictures here with the progress i made with the car in the past 2-3 months

Kind regards

Traian

Hi guys,

Greetings from Romania

Didn't post anything for a while, I had a lot of work with this car :)

I had to rebuilt the engine because in the past was not taken care properly and the engine just died, but I took care of this

Please check some pictures with actual condition, the car needs a paint but all my finance went to make it functional :)

I have one question and hope to help me, the brakes are ridiculous and I want to make upgrade

I see a lot of people use 166 calipers with some adaptors

Besides 305mm discs, calipers from 166 and adaptors, I need anything else?

Where can I find the adaptors? In RO can't find them and dont know anybody to manufacture them :)

Tried also Ebay but no succes

Do you know somebody who make or from where can I get them?

Calipers will not be a problem, I will find them easily here in RO

Thanks

Have thought about fitting some aftermarket grooved/drilled discs and better pads? Would probably be an easier option cos these 166 adapters are almost impossible to find. Another option are the GTA calipers and discs, but I think they only fit the V6

the feel of the brakes are not in the rotor, caliper, fluid. steel lines, non of them are going to make the brakes feel responsive, imidiate whatever you wanna call it. its mostly in the brake cylinder.

Better fluid = Higher boiling point temps = meaning, you can brake over and over and over again, and the next chain in command will now be taking the heat (rotors)

Stainless steel lines = minimal if no difference to rubber.

Bigger Rotors = less brake fade/more cooling

Bigger calipers/more pistons = a bit more stopping power. maybe a 10 feet distance reduction

Better pads = longer life, better initial bite.

Brake cylinder = better brake feel/ brake point in the pedal. maybe it will bite at 10% brake instead of 60% as it goes in the TS.

The brakes are bad because of the cylinder, if your brakes had better feel no one would be upgrading the brakes unless they where doing a Track GTV.

Hi guys

I found a guy here in Ro who will make me the adaptors for 166 calipers to fit my ts

My question is, calipers need to be from 166 v6 2.5 or 3.0? They are the same?

2.4jtd have brembo calipers? Those are easy to find but dont know if they are the same as v6

Discs need to be 305mm from 3.0 v6 gtv or 310 mm from 166?

166 V6 (2.0 TB, 2.5, 3.0, 3.2) and 2.4 JTDm - they all have same Brembo.

For disc, you can use 305 but pads fits on milimetar - not so good.

310 discs, also from 166, and then drill new holes...the most common solution.

You can also use 330 from 147/156 GTA/ GT 3.2 but that's little to heavy for GTV - and no difference in braking performance in comparison with 310...

If you are going for 330 better solution is Lancia Delta III discs, they are 330x28, GTA is 330x32 and you need to convert calipers to adopt them.

See photoshop of an old picture i have from the time i started the restauration

I am very pleased with burgundy soft top color, bought it from convertibletopguys usa and will come also with the rear window

Next spring will paint it, install cup skirts, cup wings already have instaled
