My third 916 : Spider 2.0 V6 TB

74 posts in this topic

Hi everyone,

I'm Damien and live in Paris...

After living spending 3 years on the wheels of my 916 I finally come here to introduce you my babes :)

I just turned 23 and definitely crazy of the 916... Let me explain... :)

Ater my first car - a 94' Twingo - I turned around the idea of searching my second car and totally fell in love with the design of the Gtv!

My first 916 was a Gtv 2.0 TS Elegante Edizione I found in Germany. Black on the exterior, Teledial cup, and the brown interior from the last 916 series.

I kept this gtv only one year and 20000km after buying it because someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse. closedeyes.gif

I couldn't stay without a 916 so I bought a Gtv 2.0 V6 TB in Roma, my frst V6... I really enjoyed the sound !!

I offered him a new interior altough mine was in a perfect condition.

Let's get the Red Style started!!!! :)

Without knowing before buying this Gtv, I fell on a customized Gtv. Hybrid turbo TD04HL, reprog by Zamuner, full inox exhaust, big Nissan 350Z calipers on 320mm discs, Bilstein B6, etc...

This Gtv was amazing... But... The rear axle was fitted on rigid silentblocks, only on the inferior end of the longer arm. The Gtv lost its abality to keep this rear steering on fast curves... I was able to drift from the rear on roundabout, without handbrake just accelerating a bit...

So I crached it without playing in november of 2012. While being tired on the highway, I lost the control on a fast curve

After a lot of weeks I found a new 916... My new Spider, a V6 TB (one of the 442)... I finally never saw it because a rod broke after driving 75km from Roma (Italia again...)

In July 2013 I bought another Spider on a whim... A V6 TB too!!

This Spider was totally stock, dirty, a clear lack of maintenance... With only 90000km...!

When I bought it in Sardinia:

And now, after 5 months of disassemblies, repairing, changin, optimizing, here is my Spider shoot this week:

Bilstein B6 (from my crashed Gtv), Eibach pro kit -20mm, Alessio 18" rims, Zender quad exhaust, Zender foot rest and pedals (from my crashed Gtv), ...... and many things changed to make it cleaner and newer ............. , and last thing to come is the engine of my Gtv, to get my 250hp back  :happy0045:

And finally an useless video for the soundcheck of the exhaust:

What an introduction. We should call you Mr. 916, a warm welcome to you!

That must have been a heavy crash, looking at the remains of the GTV. Luckily you got out in one piece.

I love your white Spider. White with red leather, my favorite combo.

Have fun on the forum!

Thanks guys :)

I can't access this page... is it a redstyle with red carpet and extinct in passenger feet? And black manometer support?

Does anyone tried big turbo here? Mitsu td04/05 or others?

Sorry for the crash I didn't answered. I was at smtg like 180 when it started to slide from the rear. I did a big slide on the side before slowing down and trying to keeping the slide and not turn over but I couldn't avoid that and I hit the wall from the left rear side. And then make a big rebound which make me hit the interior of the curve and finish on the middle way separator. The gtv has a great body I promise...

I allow you to believe it... I had a huge luck... I only got 5 sutures behind the head (the shock of my head against the headrest) and a broken foot finger! And I still have pain in the chest. It reminds me how careful I have to be on open roads...

But my gtv didn't have this steering effect. It was locked by rigid silentblocks. Now with my spider I can pass faster where the gtv was at the limit of sliding from the rear.

This is why I hesitate to mount my full rear suspension with the PU powerflex sbs that I already bought...

On the first pic you can see that the sb is rigid, instead of uniball as the second pic.

When I tried to do a 180deg on a road (no handbrake but just inverting direction) while accelerating the gtv loose grip of the rear while the front (quaife mounted) was pulling hard the car! It was the wheel-war with a losing-control rear axle...

The 916 does NOT loses grip easily...Especially the back end of these cars is like being bolted to the street. :) We all know that :D  Since you can pass faster with your spider, obviously something was wrong with your tb.. :(

Yes you're right and I knew that with my first gtv, although its mileage (170kkm) it was great to drive especially when the rear placed himself in the curve and then increase the in-curve max speed by reducing (or augmenting..) the lacet angle.

First time I attacked on a curve with the spider I was tensed as a string and I realized I could accelerate more and the grip was good. I was both on Michelin pilotsport, 17" on gtv, 18" on the spider but nothing to compare. I was so happy to have this feeling back! And I was on stock suspension despite I was on B6 (oem springs) with the gtv. Since I put my B6 + eibach on the spider....... It's more than excitement when I drive!!!!!

Another welcome to the forum  . Great introduction! I see that you have become a TB fan  :) .

You have luck in the crash and that is most important in such situation. So sad for the GTV, it was great car. But you have used many nice features from it.

There isn't many TBs with changed turbocharger as far as I know. There is some users on here which have done turbo upgrade. Did you know exact model of your turbocharger?

So you have a quife diff. Is the diff bought by you or this upgrade was done before you get the car?

The quaife upgrade was on the gtv. Mine is a TD04HL. Exhaust of the T25 and bigger inlet (43mm instead of 35 if I well remember me)

Good day mate, you have the alpha I lack in my garage, spider 2.0v6tb.

Congratulations on the good taste you have in all your choices, and I feel the accident with the other v6tb.

Greetings.

Today I tried something.......................

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fmmwk7sbw7rfc7n/2014-01-04%2018.41.12.jpg

I'm not satisfied with that vermiculate paint. It really sucks!

The upper piece (first cylinders cover) has two coats of paint and 1h @60°C.

The lower piece (oil cover) has one coat and 1h @60°C.

The two others are only one coat and no heating..;

I didn't understand WHY it's shiny and NOT vermiculate after passing into the hooven!!!!!!!!!!
