You think so? I found the GTA pretty good, seems I have never driven a proper GTV then :)

The 156 is better than the 147. If the car has at least a Q2 diff, it's a big difference. But, generally the GTAs just want to go straight :)

The car I mentioned was a 156 GTA, had Q2 fitted, Intrax coilovers and 18" OZ Superleggera wheels.

The Brera was a 210bhp diesel remapped with DPF off, KW V2 coilovers and OEM 19" TI wheels.

Are the busso GTVs better in terms of handling than the 156 GTA?

To be honest, handling didn't seem the strongest point of my Spider. I agree it is a convertible, thus decreased rigidity and higher roll, but it was on Sport suspension and 18" Wheels, and wasn't such nose heavy as the Busso.

For example, i had a diesel GT before, with Q2 and EIbach suspension (later on with Bilstein B14 coilovers), that car handled impressive indeed!

Here are two Pictures of my Montreal. It looks very nice and the engine is a dream, but driving with a 916 makes much more fun ;)

The Spider is a convertible and that's the main problem.

GTAs have a very heavy engine, and the V6 GTVs suffer from similar problems. It's just too heavy in the front.

And here is the update on my wife's 156 Sportwagon: the original Alfa Sport-pack setup with deeper columns and 17" wheels:

Great cars in this topic! You are really big alfa fans (especially Michael :D  :respect: ) Charlee you are a little extreme on GTA in my opinion.

I don't have personal experience with GTAs, but from what I have read and seen it is very good FWD car. I don't think that any standard alfa (except GTV 3.2 :smile23:  ...  and 8C ... and 4C ... and maybe SZ/RZ  enough :D) can deliver the same level of performance.

P.S. 1 Alex is your Brera lowered and by how much? And what is that front spoiler?

P.S. 2 Michael you have to make combined photo sessions - 916 photo session, old alfas photo session  you have a lot of material :D

Amazing cars you have there, Michael!

Kunev: the Brera is sitting on Novitec springs, 40mm lower than stock. The front lip is some custom modified "DTM" spoiler from Alfisti.net.

Alex I see that scudeto and emblems on your Brera have been transformed or changed.

Wow, so many Spiders, you must love the cabrio life. :) Do you use any of them in the winter? How about the Giulietta, it wasn't that good?

You can easily drive with an open top in winter, just turn the heater up. The seating position in the new Spider is better. Virtually no wind can be noticed. I drove it today for 700 km, with the roof down on the way home.

The Guilietta was a company car. I do not think I would buy one with my own money. At least not the diesel. Maybe a QV one day.

Niiice! Even though it was a really long time ago, I remember how the wooden steering wheel divided the motor press at the release of the 156. I always thought it was cool  B)

Speaking of other Alfas, I crave an Alfa 166 3.0/3.2 V6. Red or tan leather, if you please...and a slightly less restrictive exhaust. I just want to cruise around in it and feel good about myself.

True, I love 166 too! I would go for pre-facelift model as I like the design more. They are not expensive but the insurance cost is way higher than for this 1.9 156. So, I'll stick with it for some time...

my alfa history, started with a rosso red ph1 ts spider, then bottom end went. Then got a blue ph2 ts gtv and this was the most reliable car i have had, i put 30k mile on her in a year and still flew through its mot. Sold that and got a ts rosso red gtv with all the mods. Then bought another spider like my very first alfa beauty, Then a black v6 gtv came along so i now have three alfas!!!
