  1. The build quality of the 916 is much better. The Saab has hard plastic and so many interior noises. Plastic parts just break off. Terrible.

My 98 Spider was much better built. Who would have guessed!

1998. It had the cosmetic update to be a 9-3. So it is a 900 that looks like a 9-3.

The engine is a 2.0 that has been converted to a 2.3 Full Pressure Turbo. After the Hirsch upgrade it kicks out 309 bhp.

I have discussed with Hirsch to kick out some more horses.

  2. Welcome. I used my V6 spider very often and it is a great daily driver. Our GTV gets used daily.

Off course the chassis is not so rigid as a coupe. But certainly not so bad that it is a huge turn off.

The V6 sound and the design are the strong points. There is plenty off space and the build quality is very good.

With the top down, sunshine and a full tank of fuel, you cannot stop smiling the whole trip.

Try the 916 Spider V6, you will fall in love with it.

  3. This is such a great car. Saabs and Alfas have much in common. I always said that if I weren't driving Alfas, I'd definitely drive Saabs.

  4. Here is one

With these you have to be quick. There are not many around.

Here is the same car with some more pictures. It has some minor damage. Not a huge fix. Winter and summer wheels. 7700 euro. With that mileage and the damage, I would offer 7000.

  5. You realize that you've made a steal? These trolls are listed at 10-20000€!!!

2950,- that makes it 10 euro per horsepower. Sounds like a great euro to power ratio to me ;-)

The badge on the dashboard says that 51 are built.

It is so hard to find any info on this model.

  6. Another interesting info that I found. It is from topic for 9-5!

    "Hirsch Troll are as follows:

     Troll E engine: 1999-2000 250Hp; 2000-2001 260Hp; 2001-2002 280Hp

     Troll R engine: 1999-2000 272Hp; 2000-2001 280Hp; 2001-2002 310Hp"

    And from the same post:

"The 310Hp version has some traction problems, but it remains drivable."

    :D

Funny, this morning I was fiddling in the boot of the car. It was sold to me with no service history. What do I find? The complete

service history. Including a touch up paint pen, the spare " emergency" key and a dyno sheet, dated august 2011. Power output :

    306,2 BHP

Not bad for a 15 year old girl.

  7. In a straight line it is a great car. Around corners, not so much. On twisty roads, a 2.0 TB or 3.0 V6 will be just as quick, this Saab needs all the horses to catch up with you after a few corners. The interior is not so nice, so much hard plastic. I just loved the look of this 900. I also like the fact how drivers look in their rear view mirror when they see this old girl is so hard to shake off.

I like the fact that the model does not look so dated. A pretty boring but timeless design. I have more staring eyes in this, then I ever had in the Spider.

I am awaiting some essential parts for the Alfa 75. So I bought this for some fun. I am going to Denmark next weekend, and for sure I will take this old Saab.

Buy one! You will not be disappointed. These engines are easy to tune.

  8. Aarrrghh! Why did you bring this Saab up here? I want one now...:rolleyes:
